At present there are four air park developments (fly-in communities) planned in
Idaho. Air parks provide an exciting lifestyle for pilots to actually
live with their aircraft and truly enjoy the freedom of this great
pasttime.
If you know of more Idaho air parks not listed here, please drop me
an email and let me know. I would like to maintain the most complete
list of Idaho air parks on the web.
If you are a fellow pilot interested in buying property at an air park, please contact me to discuss your plans. I'd love to help!

Greenleaf Air Ranch
Greenleaf, ID
There are 29 lots planned for Phase I. Here's what the developers have to say about Greenleaf Air Ranch:
A pilot's dream has now become realtity. Imagine
walking out of your home into your hangar where your plane awaits your
aeronautic adventures. Literally, the beauty of Idaho and the Northwest
will truly be at your fingertips as you go from the tranquility of your
home to your plane and into the air in seconds.
Greenleaf Air Park is a private community manicured to a
pilot's taste that boasts spectacular view and is only minutes from
downtown Boise. With extraordinary architectural standards for homes
and the neighborhood atmosphere, this truly provides a unique lifestyle
opportunity to the aviation culture.
What is the unique lifestyle of Greenleaf Air Park?
- True aviation community: Pilots in community with pilots
- Experience all the benefits of being a pilot with your plane at your home
- Development is nestled in a beautiful rural setting with extravagant views
- Only 5 minutes from shopping and 20 minutes from downtown Boise, ID
- Hand-selected Approved Builder Team
- High standards for home and neighborhood maintenance
SilverWing at Sandpoint
Sandpoint, ID
There are 44 lots adjacent to a county-run airport planned for
SilverWing, which sits in beautiful northern Idaho. Here's what the
developers have to say:
SilverWing at Sandpoint is a unique “Fly-In Residential
Community” located on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille in majestic
Sandpoint, Idaho. The development sits on the very edge of town, only a
10 minute drive from the Inland Northwest’s largest ski resort,
Schweitzer Mountain.
SilverWing at Sandpoint
will be comprised of residential airplane hangars offering freestanding
units with aircraft storage area on the ground floor and spacious
living quarters on the second level. Unlike most airport properties,
SilverWing at Sandpoint offers its residents direct ownership of their
own land parcel immediately adjacent to a county-run airport.
The
hangar-homes, 44 in all, will be incorporated into a heavily landscaped
residential environment, situated to capture the stunning views of the
surrounding Selkirk Mountains. Each unit has been designed to blend
seamlessly with the rustic yet serene natural environment that sets the
project apart from other airparks across the country.
Sunrise Sky Park
Melba, ID
This
doesn't appear to be a viable development yet, but I include it here
for information purposes. Here is what the developers have to say:
In the late 1970's after searching most of the West, Les Moncrief
decided on the current site of Sunrise Sky Park for his development of
a residential airport. What factors helped to make this decision?
- Land area to develop runway--now paved and lighted for 2900 feet.
- Rural setting with Snake River access.
- Moderate four season climate for year round runway access.
- Close proximity to urban centers.
- Geothermal water for alternative energy.
- Bountiful outdoor recreation.
- Lower living costs.
Red Baron Airpark
Mountain Home, ID
Here's what the developers of Red Baron Airpark have to say:
This air park is the only facility available in all of
southwestern Idaho! Live the dream! Step out your back door and fly
off into some of the least congested airspace in the continental United
States. Red Baron Estates Airpark is situated literally at the door
step to Idaho's world famous back country flying.
The Frank Church Wilderness area is only 45 minutes away by small
plane and dozens of other mountain and desert strips are significantly
closer. Idaho back country strips offer seclusion, hunting, fishing,
hiking, prospecting, camping, rafting, swimming and other outdoor
activities. With an airplane in Idaho, you can leave the crowds behind
and experience what few can. For the less adventurous, Red Baron
Estates Airpark is perfectly positioned to access both Sun Valley and
Tamarack Resorts. Portland, Seattle and San Francisco are within easy
reach of most single engine airplanes as well.
The airpark itself is located in the high mountain desert at the
base of the western edge of the rocky mountains, due East of Boise.
Freeway access from the airpark makes it a quick twenty minute commute
to shopping and entertainment. The clear, clean air accentuates the
fabulous views in all directions, perfect for observing mother nature's
awesome artwork through each distinct season.
